  • Courses Offered
  • Placement Assistance
  • Campus Infrastructure
  • Knowledge Sharing Patterns
  • Extra-Curricular Activities

So, make sure you complete the above-mentioned mandatory checklist before opting for the best institutes in Meerut.

  • List your criteria

The above-mentioned criteria are the major points that every student should focus on while sorting out the colleges. But, to make your initial investigation process more meaningful, we have classified the criteria in detail below.

  • Degree offered

Target an institute offering all the core engineering degrees like graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs. The larger the variety of degrees offered, the more variety of jobs you will be eligible for.

Unlike other universities, Shobhit Deemed University has evolved into a top notch University for engineering students to achieve success through the latest education patterns and hands-on application oriented courses.

  • Location (rural or urban)

Location plays an important role in the selection decision. It’s completely on you, whether you are willing to choose a college in rural or urban areas.

Mostly students opt for college which is convenient for its accessibility. But, if you are focusing more on your comfort  in terms of connectivity, campus vibe, and opportunities to grow, you should certainly try for Shobhit Deemed University.

  • Distance from home

Whether the college is near or far away from home is the major concern for students.  Geographic location does have an impact on  college selection.

As Shobhit Deemed University is established in the central part of the Meerut City, the distance from home quite less for students from Meerut as well as NCR region. With a large number of connectivity options daily commute to home is easy. Also Shobhit offers excellent hostel facilities too.

  • Government or Private

Nowadays, both Government and Private Universities offer a good education system and placement assistance.

The fee structure in the Government Universities is quite reasonable but, if you are talking about the infrastructure, education programs, faculties, and other facilities then private universities are significantly better.

So, if you  compare Shobhit Deemed University with any Government College, then the difference can be amazing.

  • Cost (tuition, room)

“Expensive things are not necessarily the best Investment. It not necessary that colleges with  high price tags will deliver you good knowledge and career stability.

  • Campus resources

Colleges with standard computer labs, Hi-tech software and internet connectivity, well-structured classrooms, and spacious libraries are the best. Therefore, the more the campus resources, the better will be the scope of learning.

So, before making your decision, remember to have a quick look at the quality campus facilities of Shobhit Deemed University.

  • Placement and internships

Remember to select an institute  which  gives you the value of money. A college providing placement and internships in global companies is the better than others

So, before enrolling in any Private Universities remember to track their placement records.

  • Accreditation

Ensure, that the college is accredited to meet the basic academic standard. This means that the college holds an eligibility license for higher education and is recognized by educational bodies. Shobhit deemed university is NAAC accredited.

  • Quality/reputation/classes

The most important criterion is to always choose a college which holds a good reputation in the society. Because, this is a key indicator will determine your career, what status you will hold in the society, and what your chances are, to work with renowned global companies.

  • Student body (gender, diversity, community)

A college with a diversified community is always better. This makes an individual adaptable to different cultures, genders and religions.

At Shobhit Deemed University, a student will get to explore and experience every bit of it, as students from all over the world come here to learn and build their future.

  • Social life

Social life in an institute is of utmost importance. Every college aims to educate its students in the best way. But, the absence of social life reduces the passion for learning.

So, apart from established techniques of learning, insitutes should encourage students to participate in extra-curricular activities and annual events.

  • Qualification and past performance of the Faculty

Last but not the least, an institute should have a good faculty, staff and management . Quality of education depends upon the quality of faculty in the college. This can be a little difficult to predict without attending a demo lecture, but yes during this sort of situation you can always consult someone who was already a part of the college. So, do follow their feedback,  after all, they are going to be your career mentors.

  • Rank your priorities

Sit and give a thought about your priorities. Whether it is the quality education, career, and personal growth you are looking for or you just want to quench your thirst getting into a cool and bustling campus.

  • Entrance Exam

Learn about the entrance test patterns and eligibility criteria. Prepare well before applying for the university entrance exams. It’s a well-known fact that the exams are  tough, so give your best shot to get into the best!

  • Location and Demography

Away or near, this will be a critical factor while opting for a college. Always pick a college that will be suitable for the daily commute or a college with a beautiful residential campus with standard accommodations.

  • Check if you are eligible for any scholarship or financial aid

If there are scholarship facilities, explore the eligibility criteria as it might secure some extra payable money during the course duration.

  • Soak in the atmosphere

Of course, campus ambience is very important but do remember to fill in your college selection bucket with other criteria like infrastructure, academics, fee structure, and placement.

And trust us, you will experience everything under one roof when you are at Shobhit Deemed University.

  • Don’t be brand conscious

Don’t aim for a brand, always aim for the best! Whether branded or un-branded, always select the best when it comes to building your career. Refer to the websites of the colleges, do self-research and get senior’s recommendations.

  1. Make sure you have the required scores

To enroll in the best university make sure you have required marks for eligibility i.e you should meet the minimum admission criteria.

So, keep your emotions aside and polish your preferable criteria and select a college according to our recommended balanced list.

Ultimately, your career should reflect your life goals and needs. So, select them wisely!

Mircrsoft India AppFest 2013 @ Shobhit University, Meerut

In Shobhit University Indian students get chance to code for Windows

Microsoft to host AppFest across the globe, decode their dream into a reality app

In less than a week from now, thousands of charged up students in Uttar Pradesh will get together at the Shobhit University, Meerut, to develop apps for the Windows platform. On February 26, more than 10,000 students from across the length and breadth of country will gear up to code applications for a whole day, at more than 50 hub centers like the Shobhit University, Meerut,. The colleges are currently holding training sessions for students who wish to brush up their coding skills as they register. On the day of the AppFest, the young developers will code under the supervision of Microsoft mentors, trainers and Microsoft Student Partners (MSPs), and submit the app online – an opportunity to make it available on the Windows Store after due diligence.

“On one hand, the trends in the IT space have evolved over the past few years, creating greater opportunities for students and budding developers. On the other, the global youth unemployment rate is currently at 12.7 percent— double the overall unemployment rate. These two things clearly indicate a gap in demand and supply – and the obvious answer: Given the right skills and training, there is lot young technology students can achieve today. This is exactly what we are trying to do: bring together the opportunity and those who can utilize it” Pratima Amonkar, Director Strategic Audience Marketing said. “Obviously students recognize the opportunity, going by the enthusiastic response we have received across India so far”, she added.

Microsoft will provide students at each of the hubs with free software such as Visual Studio Express for Windows 8, and with free Windows Store registration codes through Microsoft DreamSpark.  The focus will be on broad-based consumer applications, incorporating education, games, apps for social good etc. In addition to submitting the apps for evaluation for a chance to get on the Microsoft Store, the training and experience received via this program will boost the students’ employability, and create a more capable developer ecosystem in the country.

Brain storming session and workshop on “Agri-Informatics” in emerging educational system – Modes, Methods and Relevance organized by Shobhit University

Agriculture has been the country’s backbone as it plays a vital role in the economic and social development of the country. In the present scenario the population growth of our country is exceeding the production of food required. Therefore it is necessary to give priority to agricultural development with the focus on increase in production and caring the farming community. Traditionally agricultural infrastructure and man power were considered as the two important factors for agricultural development. But the most important factor that provides development and extension is “Information” using the modern technology. To make skilled and effective man power continuous increase in knowledge is required. Information Technology (IT) is a channel that can help by providing continuous flow of information to guide the farm sector for increase in production and extension. IT has a major role to play in all areas of Indian agriculture. In addition to facilitating farmers in improving the efficiency and productivity of agriculture, the potential of IT lies in bringing about an overall qualitative improvement in life by providing quality information inputs timely for decision making. Agriculture officers, who work at the block level, can provide valuable information such as information related to market, price related information, infrastructure related information, resource related information etc. to the farming community through IT channels. Therefore IT should be used as a strategic tool in Indian agriculture sector for the country’s overall development. The need of the hour is going from green revolution to knowledge revolution.

A brain storming session and workshop was organized on Agri-informatics on 17th Dec 2011 to discuss, deliberate the importance of Agri-Informatics. In the workshop it was emphasised that agricultural sector is the driving force behind the industrial development. In the present scenario the population growth is exceeding the production of food. For self-sufficiency educational capabilities have to be driven to enlighten the farming sector, to double food grain growth. In this context Israel has been doing better in production sector by proper maintenance of water resources. Rain fed areas in our country has no progress and therefore judicious views on Natural Resource management like crop management, water resource management etc. has to be established. British envisioned and prioritized scientific views for developing agriculture sector. Whenever they invade any country they used to have scientific expertise on the geographical location to get good knowledge on the country’s resources. They established Geological Survey of India and Indian Metrological Department.

Today remote sensing satellites having a resolution of < 1m is permitted by government for research oriented schools. This information can be used to model out the geographical issues related to agriculture. In European Union there is a 3 year course on Agri-informatics but in India we lack any such program till now. Such courses find more relevance in India because of problems like 143 known livestock diseases, more than 10,000 pests on crops that amounts to loss of 20,000 crores and 90,000 animal loss which amounts to 44,000 crores. Such huge losses have no logistics to control and can be only be curtailed through ICT.

In India we have 1900 IT institutions, 51 agricultural universities and 95 ICR institutes which work independently. What we require is a synergised educational system where there is transparent knowledge sharing between IT and agricultural sector. In India educational knowledge is from farmer to farmer and MNC’s restrict the flow of knowledge by patenting their work or exercising intellectual property right. This has to be more transparent to solve the productivity issues. There should be both on field and off field science & technology programs. ICT is in the direction of solving above mentioned issues apart from crop cycle management, post harvest management and help in smoothening the supply to production chain by using modelling and simulation techniques. Therefore IT has to be applied in the area of agriculture science. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has also revolutionized governance and library science.

Shobhit University, established u/s 3 of UGC Act, 1956, is one of the only university in India which has taken a bold initiative to start high-end programs, including B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D., in Agri-Informatics. Mandate taken by university is development of knowledge in certain selected challenging areas such as Bio-Medical, Bio-Informatics, Agri-Informatics apart from popular courses such as IT, Computer Science, Electronics, Pharmacy and Bio-Technology.

Advancing in tune with its mandate of going beyond the standards & normal course, Shobhit University cater the niche areas of the field of education. Agri-Inforamtics has been one of the thrust areas identified by the university. The university designs and mentors its curriculum enriching it continuously keeping in view the ever-changing requirements in the field of technology. In this context the University organizes brain storming session involving experts from all relevant arenas so as to mostly update the syllabus as per the requirements and expectations of the end users .i.e. industry or so.

Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Shobhit University Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra P. Agarwal, Dr. Vellyuthum, Former Executive Director Swaminathan Foundation, Dr. Simon Holland from Zoraly Solutions,New Delhi, Prof. H. K. Shobhit University’s Dean, Faculty of Biological Engineering, Prof. (Dr) DV Rai visited Simon Fraser University, Canada for collaboration on industry relevant projects under India Mobility Initiative.

While B.C. premier Christy Clark was on India-China visit to promote economic links between BC and Asia, the education institutes in Vancouver were gearing up to strengthen the education ties between the province and India. Both the leading universities of Vancouver ie Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia have started new initiatives that will not only promote education but businesses too between the two countries.

SFU has invited scholars from India to explore the opportunities of living, studying and investing in the Province. UBC, on the other hand, is deepening its commitment to India by opening offices in Bangalore and New Delhi and establishing partnerships with leading universities and research institutions across India.

Among the visiting Indian scholars were:Prof. (Dr) Durg Viyay Rai, Dean, Faculty of Biological Engineering and senior professor at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering’s School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Shobhit University in Meerut; Daya Gaur, head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar(IITR) and Himanshu Tyagi, an assistant professor at IITR’s School of Mechanical, Materials & Energy Engineering.

The SFU scholars’ visit was part of the larger BC-India Innovation, Exchange and Mobility Initiative. “Under the initiative we plan to exchange scholars and students, and promote businesses between India and B.C. There has been an good inflow of Indian students to SFU but not many SFU students have visited India. As part of the initiative we plan to send more SFU students to Indian education institutes,” said Nav Chima, Project Director, SFU BC-India Mobility Initiatives.

He also said that SFU is known for its quality research in the field of clean energy, life sciences and new media. “We want to promote SFU’s expertise amongst Indian businesses too,” he said.

“The initiative enables B.C. to build connections with one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. SFU’s visitng scholars from India are exchanging information with B.C. researchers and companies to create opportunities in clean energy, health and life sciences,” said Nirmal Rajapakse, deand and professor, faculty of applied science at SFU.

A federal investment of $302,535 was announced in June 2011 by Lynee Yelich, minister for Western Economic Diversification, to support the initiative. Andrew Saxton, MP for North Vancouver and Parliamentary Secretary met the visiting Indian scholars at Surrey’s SFU campus on Wednesday. He said, “Thanks to WD funding, these scholars will be able to see why B.C. is the ideal place to live, study and invest.”

The purpose of higher education is to empower the youth and the fruits of technological innovations must percolate to the rural areas if the country is to progress: Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Pro Chancellor, Shobhit University, Meerut

Shobhit University, Meerut supported a National Conference on E-Education & Distance Education- Innovative & Creative Models in Higher Education organized by ASSOCHAM on 8th Dec. 2011 at New Delhi.

Although India has survived with its higher education system for decades, now as it strives to compete in a globalised economy in areas that require highly trained professionals, the quality of higher education becomes increasingly important. So far, India’s large educated population base and its reservoir of well-trained university graduates have permitted the country to move ahead. But the competition is fierce. China in particular is heavily investing in improving its best universities with the aim of making a small group of them world class in the coming decade, and making a larger number internationally competitive research universities. Other Asian countries are also upgrading higher education with the aim of building world class-universities. Taiwan, which is a major designer and producer of IT hardware, is considering merging several of its top technological universities to create an “Asian MIT.”

Thus, to compete successfully in the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century, India needs innovative and creative models in higher education system that produces bright graduates to support sophisticated research in a number of scientific and scholarly fields and produce at least some of the knowledge and technology needed for an expanding economy.

Recognizing the importance of the subject a NATIONAL SEMINAR on E-education & Distance Education – Innovative & Creative Models in Higher Education to showcase the spectrum of horizon in the field of e-education and distance education which exists in India was organized in Delhi.

Key themes discussed at this summit were:

  • E-education and distance learning practices and policies.

  • Governance, policies and programs in relation to E-Education & Distance Education in India.

Key decision makers across the entire higher education eco-system from enterprises, educational institutions, education regulatory bodies, vice-chancellor, regulators, government agencies, service providers, system integrators, education technology providers and vendors attended.

“Technological innovation in the Indian education system is the need of the hour to equip our graduates to compete in the ever evolving global knowledge economy,” said Mr. Pawan Aggarwal, Adviser (education), Planning Commission while addressing an ASSOCHAM conference on higher education in New Delhi on 8th Dec. 2011, as the Chief Guest of the conference.

“Though India ranks third in the higher education system in the world but innovative, creative models in distance education and collaboration with research partners from across the world are imperative to transform the domestic higher education scenario,” said Mr. Aggarwal while inaugurating a National Conference on ‘E-education & Distance Education’ organized by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

“The universities and colleges must provide courses based on needs of the industry and ensure better placements for students,” said Mr. Vinay Rai, Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council on Education. “Universities in India must focus on providing online degree programmes as distance learning is gaining a firm base in universities across the globe.”

“India requires a proper business model based on modern technology and can collaborate with countries like Canada to enhance the higher education system,” said H.E. Steward Beck, Canadian High Commissioner to India.

Among others who spoke at the event were: Mr. Anand Nagarajan, CEO, Dexler Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Anil Goyal, Director, Mexus Education, Mr. G.C.Sharma, Head-Financial Education (Schools and Universities) National Stock Exchange, Mr. Anurag Agrawal,Vice President iProf and many other dignitaries of repute.
